Concrete Sidewalk
Contractor in
Northern Virginia.— property-line to ADA-compliant.
Sidewalk installation & replacement · Loudoun, Fairfax & beyond
Sidewalks are the public face of a property. We pour and replace concrete sidewalks across Northern Virginia homes, designed to handle the freeze-thaw weather and the foot traffic of decades. Property-line sidewalks, front walks, ADA-compliant approaches, and full replacements of failing slabs.
— or pay over time with financing
Sidewalks built to last decades.— not patched every few years.
A residential sidewalk takes more abuse than most surfaces on a property. Foot traffic, weather, tree roots from below, water from above. Poured wrong, it cracks and heaves in a few years. Poured right, it outlasts the home.
We pour new sidewalks along property lines, replace failing slabs, install ADA-compliant approaches where the sidewalk meets a driveway or entrance, and integrate sidewalks with landscaping and existing concrete. Each project starts with proper subgrade prep and ends with saw-cut control joints that direct cracking away from the visible surface.
From layout to last brush. — weather permitting.
Survey & layout
We measure the sidewalk path, check slope, look at existing concrete transitions, and confirm any ADA requirements.
Demo & prep
For replacements, old sidewalk is removed and hauled away. We grade the subgrade, compact it, and install a stable base.
Pour & finish
Forms set the edges, reinforcement laid per spec. Concrete poured and finished to a broom or smooth surface, depending on use.
Joints & cure
Saw-cut control joints placed by hand to control where cracks happen. We walk you through the cure window before foot traffic.
The work below the surface — is what makes a sidewalk last.
Proper subgrade
Most failing sidewalks failed because the subgrade was rushed. We excavate to depth, compact properly, and install a stable base. Slab thickness alone doesn’t save bad prep.
Drainage built in
Sidewalks slope away from buildings and toward the natural watershed. No ponding, no slip hazards, no foundation seepage.
Hand-cut control joints
Saw-cut joints placed in strategic locations direct cracking out of sight, instead of random splits across the surface.
Concrete sidewalk questions. — what homeowners ask first.
01 Do I need a permit for a sidewalk in Loudoun or Fairfax County?
Sidewalks that connect to public right-of-way may require a permit. Sidewalks entirely on private property usually don’t. HOAs may have additional requirements. We help navigate it on the estimate.
02 How long does a concrete sidewalk last?
30+ years with proper installation. The biggest enemies are bad subgrade and tree roots. We prep the base properly and recommend root barriers where appropriate.
03 Will my sidewalk crack?
There’s a saying in the concrete trade: there are two types of concrete — concrete that has cracked, and concrete that hasn’t cracked yet. All concrete cracks eventually. Our job is to control where: we compact the base properly, reinforce the slab, and place control joints by hand so cracks happen on planned lines instead of random splits. Our 1-year limited workmanship warranty covers structural cracks that meet the size/length thresholds — see full warranty terms.
04 Can you replace just one section of sidewalk?
Yes. Sidewalks are typically poured in sections (slabs), and individual sections can be removed and replaced if they’re the only ones failing. We try to color-match the new concrete to the existing.
05 How much does a sidewalk cost in Northern Virginia?
Cost depends on length, width, access, and whether you’re replacing existing or pouring new. We give a real number after a quick site walk or based on photos and dimensions.
Got a sidewalk project? — tell us about it.
Six quick fields. We’ll come back with a real estimate from someone who actually pours sidewalks.
Or pick up the phone. — we’d love to walk it.
Most sidewalk projects start with a phone call or a few photos. We talk through what you’re working with and schedule a site visit when it makes sense.
