Trash Pad
Concrete Contractor in
Northern Virginia.— reinforced and drained.
Commercial trash pad construction · Loudoun & Fairfax
Trash pads are small but critical commercial concrete pours. Dumpsters are heavy, garbage trucks are heavier, and code requires drainage and containment. We build trash pads across Northern Virginia for multi-family properties, retail, and offices — properly reinforced, properly drained, properly compliant.

Small slabs, real requirements.— we know the code.
Trash pads look simple from the outside, but the requirements are real. Most jurisdictions require minimum slab thickness, drainage to prevent runoff to waterways, curbs or walls to contain leaks, and sometimes bollards to protect the surrounding property from garbage truck damage. Get the spec wrong and the inspector won’t sign off.
We build trash pads for multi-family properties, retail centers, restaurants, and office buildings across Northern Virginia. Each one is sized to the dumpster count, reinforced for the truck loads, drained per local code, and includes containment features your property manager and inspector need to see.
From code review to compliant pad. — weather permitting.
Code & site review
We confirm local code requirements for slab thickness, drainage, containment, and bollards. Sized to the dumpster count and truck access.
Site prep
Subgrade compacted, base installed, forms set. Drainage path planned to the existing storm system or a French drain.
Pour & finish
6″+ slab with heavy reinforcement. Curbs poured monolithic if specified. Surface finished and sloped to drains.
Bollards & turnover
Bollards installed if specified, walls coordinated with masonry contractor if needed. Documentation provided for inspection.
Small pad, real code — we know what inspectors want.
6″+ reinforced slabs
Trash pads need thicker concrete than most commercial pours because of dumpster point loads and truck weight. We spec to actual loads.
Drainage built in
Pads slope to a curb or drain so liquids don’t pool. We coordinate with the existing storm system or install French drains as needed.
Bollards and containment
Steel bollards, concrete curbs, or masonry walls as the code requires or the property needs. We coordinate with masons when walls are part of the scope.
Compliant docs ready
Documentation your property manager and inspector need. We sign off on what we built.
Trash pad questions. — what property managers ask first.
01 How thick does a trash pad need to be?
Most commercial trash pads are 6″+ to handle dumpster point loads and garbage truck weight. Some jurisdictions or HOA covenants specify higher minimums. We size to your specific requirements.
02 Do you handle the enclosure walls and bollards?
We pour the concrete pad and any concrete curbs. For masonry walls, we coordinate with a mason. For bollards, we install steel-pipe bollards filled with concrete. The scope can be coordinated as a single project.
03 Will my trash pad crack?
There’s a saying in the concrete trade: there are two types of concrete — concrete that has cracked, and concrete that hasn’t cracked yet. All concrete cracks eventually. Our job is to control where: we compact the base properly, reinforce the slab, and place control joints by hand so cracks happen on planned lines instead of random splits. Our 1-year limited workmanship warranty covers structural cracks that meet the size/length thresholds — see full warranty terms.
04 What about drainage codes in Northern Virginia?
Most NoVA jurisdictions require trash pad runoff to be contained or directed to a sanitary drain (not storm). We confirm the code for your property and design drainage accordingly.
05 How much does a trash pad cost?
Cost depends on size, slab thickness, drainage work, bollards, and enclosure walls. We give detailed bids based on the full scope after a site walk.
